Welcome to Indiana University and the School of Public Health! I hope you had an enjoyable and productive summer! The SPH Career Services team has been hard at work this summer creating new programs and resources to enhance your career readiness. Our goal is to facilitate your career development process by helping you to uncover your talents and interests, explore career options, experience internships, and coach you through the job search process.
I’m extremely excited about new resources we are unveiling this semester! Our webpage has an entirely new look and feel with increased functionality. You can set up customized “Alerts” on the website which will tailor the page content and curate your newsletter content to match your academic and career interests. I highly recommend taking advantage of the alerts to personalize your web experience.
In addition, Career Link has a new look and updated features this year. You can access Career Link from our website. New features include a brand new profile section that enables the system to recommend job listings based on your profile. You will also use Career Link to schedule career coaching appointments, review lists of employers who will be attending upcoming career events, view job and internship postings, and explore career options. We will also complete a customized review of your resume when you upload it to Career Link.
We were also busy this summer creating a new Canvas site, exclusively for School of Public Health students, to navigate your career planning process. The Canvas site is meant to supplement your career resources and activities if you prefer to work independently at your own pace. The Canvas site contains yearly action plans and career development modules to move forward in your planning.
We have some amazing events planned this year to connect you with employers and alumni! We are gearing up for the Career Expo on Wednesday, September 14th. This will be our biggest career fair of the year, and I encourage you to attend! If you are curious about what to expect at the fair, then join us a week prior for the Expo Boot Camp to get career fair ready! Throughout the year, we will be hosting more career fairs specific to each career community, with opportunities to network with alumni and apply for positions with employers in your field. In addition to career fairs, we will be offering a series of workshops to refine your career competencies. All upcoming events are listed on the event calendar on the website as well as within Career Link.
So as you dive into your academics this semester, don’t forget about these opportunities to enhance your career readiness as well. We are here to coach you through the process!
