Sport Business & Media Career Event: Silver Partner and Alumni Mentors

The Sport Business & Media Career Event is coming up on the 14th October. Before the big day, here is some brief information on our Silver Partner – Yelp and our amazing alumni mentors!

Elisabeth Ferrell – Yelp

Yelp is the Silver Partner for this event. They are partnered up with the school to make this event a success. Elisabeth is a University Recruiting Programs Manger for Yelp. She is at the event to recruit for the position of Account Executive Sales. Elisabeth is looking for students who are graduating at the end of this semester or in May to fill an open position within their company.

Ellen Lucey – Bauerfeind

Ellen Lucey has been in the Sport Marketing industry for over 20 years. Currently, Director, Sports and Consumer Marketing for Bauerfeind USA. Ellen is leading the company efforts to establish a brand name with consumers. Ellen recently negotiated a key partnership with National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association.  Prior to Bauerfeind Ellen served as the Director for the Sports Marketing department of The Coca-Cola Company. With The Coca-Cola Company, Ellen held numerous executive management positions within the Sports & Entertainment department.

Theo Hodges – Seattle Sounders FC

A St. Louis, Missouri native, Theo began working in sports as a batboy for the St. Louis Cardinals during the ’96 and ’97 season. He graduated from IU in ’01 with a bachelor of science degree from the Kelley School of Business. He also spent four years with the Men’s basketball program as a student manager. After graduation he’s had the opportunity to move up in the sports industry while gaining valuable experience from several sports franchises including the Clippers, St. Louis Blues, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Hawks and now the Seattle Sounders.

Buffy Filippell – Teamwork Online

Buffy is the president and founder of Teamwork Online which was established in 1987. She graduated from IU in 1976 and got her first job as a manager of Racquet Sports and Golf Promotion with Wilson Sporting Goods. From there she became the first female Account Executive for IMG then a Senior Associate for Korn Ferry. After holding positions at large corporations Buffy built her own company with Teamwork Online. Teamwork Online was the first recruiting company to focus on sports executive recruiting. The website provides a mobile talent recruiting system that allows individuals to apply for internships and jobs in the sport industry.
