Girl Scouts of Central Indiana Summer Camp Jobs

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana has 4 summer camps looking for staff for the summer of 2018. We are located in Indianapolis, Lafayette, Nashville, and near Cloverdale. We serve Girl Scouts from all over Indiana. Our season starts around May 19th and ends July 21st. Most of our camps run either Sunday thru Friday or Monday thru Friday. The camps are: Camp Dellwood a day camp in Indianapolis, Camp Sycamore Valley a day camp in Lafayette, Camp Na Wa Kwa a day and weekend camp near Cloverdale, and Camp Gallahue a resident camp in Nashville IN.

We are looking for the following positions:

  • Camp Nurse- This person can be an EMT or someone with first aid and CPR. All our camps are close enough for EMT and emergency service to get to the camp- that we do not need a RN on camp. This job hands out the medicine the girls bring to camp, handles first aid and calls for emergency when it is needed.
  • Unit Staff- Staff who live and plan the activities with the girls.
  • Lifeguards- Run the beach and pools. Some camps have boating.
  • Program staff: Teach archery, climbing wall, arts and crafts.
  • Kitchen Staff- Work in the kitchen to prepare the food. Deliver the pack outs and handle the equipment.

We look for staff that want to work hard, understand that children can be difficult at times, are comfortable in the outdoors and are willing to be trained in the different positions. We offer lifeguard, archery, and boating training along with CPR and First Aid.

If you are looking for a job this summer that will give you experience working with children, using your skills in time management, conflict management and gaining more skills to help you in the future please contact me. Working at one of our camps will help you gain more experience you can use in the future.

I am the outdoor program manager, and I run the resident camp for our council in the summer. During the rest of the year, I plan all outdoor programs at our camps for troops to attend. I plan hiking, geocaching, other badges the girls earn to big council wide events that have over 1000 people come and camp out. I love being outdoors and this job is perfect for me. I like hiring my staff for each summer and spending the time outdoors with all the campers. I have had this job for 10 years.

I think everyone should spend a summer at camp! You learn so much about life and how to handle situations. In 9 weeks you will learn conflict management, time management, planning skills and people skills that will help you for the rest of your life. Plus, you’ll make a difference in a young girls life! Where else can you have Tye Die Tuesday? Taco Thursday? Go canoeing or sailing while working?

We can also make the position a paid internship if you need hours to graduate.

We’ll be on the Indiana University Campus the following dates:
Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Public Health, Safety, & Social Services Career Fair
Wednesday, January 24 at the Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation Career Focus Fair
Wednesday, February 7 at the Camp Fair
