Your time at IU is flying by! Now is the time to begin thinking about graduation and transitioning into your professional career!
The IU Commencement webpage can serve as a checklist of things to consider in advance of graduation.
First on the list is to Apply to graduate. It is recommended that you apply early in your final year—if not before—to avoid missing your school’s deadline. The School of Public Health-Bloomington deadline for May graduation in 2022 is February 25th.
Other recommendations include:
- Order your cap and gown
- Attend GradFair
- Get your honor cords
- Book hotel and travel arrangements
- Submit visa applications
- Plan for guests with special needs
- Update your name and address
- Check for record holds
- Join IU Proud
While you are preparing for mid-term exams, finishing projects, and planning your senior year spring break, here are some other things for you to consider.
Forward your mail
- Submit a mail forwarding request with the United States Postal Service.
Manage your Email
- Forward your IU email. Mail forwarding redirects incoming mail to your IU email domain to your preferred email service. Visit IU Knowledge Base for instructions specific to your circumstances.
- Create an automatic reply or “out of office” message that includes your new contact information. For example:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting me. This is no longer my primary email as I have graduated and am no longer at this institution. To contact me, send email to xxx.xxxx@gmail.com. I do not regularly check this email account.
