$2500 LINDA THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 2024

The Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) awards two scholarships annually. The Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to hospitality students who are preparing for a career in Destination Management. Up to two (2) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2500 USD each.

Applicants must include:

• A resume

• A letter of recommendation from either a professor or a professional in the meetings industry. (The letter, in English, should verify your commitment and ability to complete the educational
program, experience in the event management industry, whether volunteer or paid, and aptitude to deal with the demands of the Destination Management profession.)

• An essay, in English, of at least 250 words that explains these 5 topics:
o your interest in the Destination Management / Event Management Industry
o the focus of your studies and goals
o how receiving this scholarship would help you achieve your goals
o the details of your volunteer and extra-curricular activities
o share about a recent event you attended and what enhancement(s) you could implement to make it more special

• For extra credit… Provide a 45 – 60 second video introducing yourself and sharing why you want to work in the Destination Management industry.

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a committee of Destination Management professionals during the month of November. The scholarships will be announced in December and again at the 2023 ADMEI Annual Conference which will be held 1 – 3 February in Tampa, FL (USA). Scholarship recipients need not be present to accept the award, however, if you choose to participate in the annual conference, you will receive complimentary registration, hotel accommodations, and airfare assistance courtesy of ADMEI.
