Banner Day Camp is the premier day camp in the Chicagoland area offering a traditional program for campers ages 3-13. Staff have the opportunity to work hands-on in leading programs, dealing with camper behavior, and working with parents on a daily basis.
Students looking for meaningful opportunities to work with children will find it at Banner Day Camp. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic hitting all of our communities in 2020, Banner was able to run an extremely safe and successful program. While following CDC guidelines, we were able to give our campers and staff a feeling of normalcy as our Banner community thrived, allowing us all to have our usual fun, full-filling summer.
Education students at Banner are able to learn group management, how to adapt to camper needs, and support campers with a wide variety of behavioral, emotional, and social challenges. All of these developed skills help to improve classroom management and the ability to differentiate for and accommodate to the needs of all students including IEP and 504 plans.
At Banner, education students also have the opportunity to network with teaching professionals and administrators (representing 15 local districts) who lead our staff as part of our Leadership Team. Each day, our staff receives feedback and direction from this Leadership Team on how to work more effectively with campers and creatively collaborate with their peers. This provides a wonderful network as our future educators begin their job search – oftentimes our Leadership Team helps staff land interviews and job offers within their districts.
