JOB GOAL:
To oversee district menu planning according to the USDA menu planning guidelines and handle student nutrition based projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

● Create district breakfast and lunch menus for all schools, and allergen/diet restrictions.
● Monitor and update district food service menu website Nutrislice.
● Utilize MenuLogicK12 software by entering ingredients, recipes, and scheduling cycle menus for breakfast and lunch.
● Analyze data from MenuLogicK12 for recipes, menu pricing, popularity, acceptability, etc.
● Implement USDA Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2015 policies and procedures.
● Manage menu component compliance with weekly averages.
● Handle all allergy and special diet concerns with staff, nurses, and parents.
● Work with buildings on taste testing events and wellness initiatives.
● Plan menu promotion schedule and manage student promotions.
● Responsible for communication updates and managing social media sites and menu app (Nutrislice) software.
● Scratch cooking recipe development with site supervisors.
● Assist with district wellness committee as needed.
● Manages USDA Free and Reduced Meal Program process district-wide to ensure compliance with federal and Indiana state regulations. Includes implementation of guidelines, application approval via Free and Reduced software, ensures timely updating of changes in status, supervises school staff during the qualification process, assures accuracy, and helps answer and provide clarification to parent and staff questions.
● Plan and create nutrition lesson plans for classroom and athletic education and grade level presentations, when requested. Be an extension of food service and engage students in conversation on meal quality, quantity, and overall feedback of service.
● Assist Food Service office on projects as needed.
● Promote and market the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program to encourage participation.
● Attend in-service training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise. Assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
● Recommend changes and improvements regarding his/her job.
● Attend all scheduled manager meetings, usually once a month.
● Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned by the Director of Food Service.
● The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
● Adhere to all district health and safety policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
● Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
● Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed.
● Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word).
● Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
● Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
● Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
● Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Registered Dietitian credential per the CDR requirements
● ServSafe Manager, valid certification
● One year of commercial or K-1 food service experience, preferred.
● Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
● Ability to lift 25 lbs.
● Ability to carry 25 lbs.
● Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
● Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter.
● Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
● Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.
● Ability to reach in all directions.

210 days per year
