The Grant Administration team seeks a graduate work-study student from Indiana University Bloomington to assist with department activities for the 2024-2025 academic year. This student must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and be able to work in the School of Public Health building on the IU Bloomington campus.
This position pays $21.00 per hour up to 29 hours per week.

The Grant Administration team within the School of Public Health-Bloomington provides pre- and post-award support to all the faculty and departments within the school. The Grant Administration team provides support in budget development, proposal compilation and submission, contract negotiation, sub-award issuance, and post-award administration. The team oversees these aspects of funding provided in the form of grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from external and internal funding sources (e.g., federal agencies, state agencies, private companies, or foundations) that provide support for research, curriculum development, outreach, and/or service work. The Grant Administration team also acts as a liaison between faculty, the Office of Research Administration, and the funding agency. The Grant Administration team ensures compliance with University guidelines, informs faculty and personnel of special contractual and legal requirements, and provides training to University personnel on grants and contracts application and administration. Each team member works independently and cooperatively to achieve University and school goals.
Job Summary:
- Collect and review feedback from unfunded proposals to curate a list of common mistakes and help develop a plan to address these issues and implement supports.
- Curate and develop a consultant list for faculty and grant administration use.
- Prepare, plan, and implement a school-wide training related to Research Enterprise needs.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of biguans, https://publichealth.indiana.edu/research/biguan.html.
- Work with the Grant Administration team to create standard operating procedures and better organizational structure of shared files and resources.
- Develop and curate funding opportunities for faculty, staff, and students.
- Conduct initial intake of new and continuing awards for grant admin staff.
- Work with IT staff to request any necessary updates to the Grant Administration Office internal website, which provides resources for faculty, staff, and students.
Description: Learn how grant budgeting and financial tracking works. Role is flexible from simple data entry to being more involved in preparing, updating, and evaluating grant financial tracking spreadsheets if the individual is interested in learning the topic. Role will also support the department by processing travel and other reimbursements.
