Role Overview:
The purpose of the State Cancer Registry Internship for the Transition Project at the Indiana State Cancer Registry (Indiana Department of Health) is to shadow the Cancer Registry and Surveillance Director and assist in the development, administration, and implementation of the cancer registry software transition project. You will also assist in daily operations, including all programs included within the Section (such as the National Program of Cancer Registries by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).Hourly Wage:
The hourly wage for this position is $16.24/hour.
A Day in the Life:
- Create a RedCap survey
- Successfully collect a minimum of 50 responses from the RedCap Survey
- Clean the data from RedCap Survey for analysis purposes
- Create a standard operating procedure (SOP)
- Create a report / standing document addressing the analysis / project to be disseminated
What You’ll Need for Success:
- Working toward an advanced degree in epidemiology, public health, health informatics, data science, physics, computer science, statistics, or other closely related field
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time-management skills
- Must be extremely detail-oriented
- Detailed knowledge of data analysis software such as R
- Demonstrated experience extracting, error-checking, and organizing data from a variety of sources for analysis and reporting
- Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing data
- Demonstrated experience employing exceptional written and verbal communication skills that include clearly presenting information to stakeholders and staff of varying professional and learning levels
- Demonstrated experience learning specialized software and computer programs
- Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products- Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated experience creating and publishing technical reports for internal and external audiences
- A working Driver’s license and vehicle to travel to Start Smart Clinics
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
