Tell us a bit about the company you interned for:
VUMC is a patient-focused hospital with over 1,000 beds, employing more than 40,000 healthcare personnel.

Tell us about your position during your internship:
Each week, I had the opportunity to work with a different dietitian in the hospital or in the community, working with them to assess, treat and monitor patients through nutrition care. All of the dietitians and staff at VUMC was extremely helpful in helping me gain confidence in this area of expertise, and this facility aims to foster the continued development of dietitians, helping to improve the health of our patients and community.
Tell us about what you’ve most enjoyed about your internship experience:
I really enjoyed seeing my progress in developing my clinical judgement and my increased confidence when talking to patients. The dietitians I worked with were amazing at providing a balance between being helpful and providing the needed support, while also giving me the space and autonomy to grow into the practitioner I desire to be.
What has surprised you most about being an intern?
I am surprised by how much I was able to learn in just 10 months of an internship. This hands-on experience was so unique and beneficial for building the skills I need for my future career.
